Advertising is Key

Let's say you have just started your business. You are planning a grand opening, but how do you get the word out? What if you have a website, how should you market yourself, your product, or your service? Also, what if you have a new concept that nobody knows about? How do you teach your customers about your business?

Everyone knows it is hard to market your business especially if it is a new concept that is unknown. Advertising is key, but there are many forms of advertising out there, so which one is right for you? Word of mouth is probably the BIGGEST and BEST advertising you can get, but that only comes with popularity or if a customer likes your product/service.

If you have just opened shop you should get some brochures or local marketing materials. You may want to distribute them through the community by having them available at other local businesses (not competition) to get the curiosity flowing. Obviously, you should offer the other business to let you hand out their promotional items at your place. --This technique is used by many small businesses because it keeps the cost low and gives exposure to people already shopping around.

Another form of good advertising is online. If you sign up for advertising with services such as Google Adwords, this would give you a lot of exposure online, when people are already viewing the same content as what you are providing. This might be a little more expensive, but it would allow you to reach many.

For online businesses Google Adwords and other PPC advertising solutions are dynamic ways to get people to your website to see what you have to offer, you can use specific keywords to gain attention and attract people to click through to your ad link.

Why should you create a website even if you have a local business that has nothing to do with the internet?
--This goes with teaching your future customers about your business, people these days love to surf the web and you will find people more willing to just hop online than flip through a newspaper, just because we are a tech savvy world. Educate your audiance by creating an interactive website about your product/service especially if you are offering something new, then teach the viewers what your are offering and why they need/would want it. GOOD TOOL for advertising as well because friends will probably tell other friends, hey check out so and so's website it's kind of cool! This will keep your cost the same because you are already running the site, but will give you more exposure as well, by word of mouth!

Billboards are awesome too, but they are a lot more expensive, although some bigger, smaller (I know cliche) businesses may be able to afford it.

...As always think of the best option for your business, these are just a few advertising idea's from many forms that are out there!
